OBD2 scanners
Nine OBD2 scanners I would consider, from $5 to about $357. An engine-only reader tells you the code. A full-system scanner also reads ABS and airbag and can do resets. Prices come from my guides (checked Oct 5 to Oct 7, 2026) and change daily.
Affiliate links (AliExpress): I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. I have not tested these scanners myself. Full disclosure.
How I choose: I search AliExpress and shortlist products using the price, buyer ratings and review counts shown on the listing. Ratings are from AliExpress buyers and change over time. Products with lower ratings or few reviews are listed lower in each group, and a card says “No reviews yet” when the listing has none. I have not tested these products myself.
Check engine light on? Know before you pay.
- 1. Read engine fault codes in seconds.
- 2. Understand the possible issue before you visit a mechanic.
- 3. Cut the guesswork and make a better-informed repair decision.
- 4. Feel more confident about your vehicle.
Stop guessing. Start understanding your car.
Not sure how to read the codes? See the explainer →
A scanner reads codes, it does not fix the problem. If the light is flashing or the car runs badly, see a mechanic.
